License Journey Now Supports LMFT Hour Tracking for California AMFTs

License Journey has expanded its clinical hour tracking platform to fully support California Associate Marriage and Family Therapists (AMFTs) working toward their LMFT license.

The update adds LMFT-specific hour category tracking, including dedicated tracking for the 500-hour relational therapy requirement — one of the most complex aspects of the LMFT licensing path.

Why LMFT Hours Are Complex

While both LCSW and LMFT paths require 3,000 total supervised hours, the LMFT path has a unique sub-requirement: of the 1,750 minimum direct client contact hours, at least 500 must involve work with couples, families, or children. This includes conjoint therapy, family therapy, parent-child sessions, and child therapy.

Many AMFTs struggle to track this category separately and accurately. A miscategorized session can mean the difference between meeting the requirement and falling short when it's time to submit your application.
